Me and musicals haven`t had the best relationship over the years, I was in the chorus for Guys and Dolls in secondary school and had to wear a hideous canary yellow floor length polka dot dress. As I pranced around in the banana monstrosity for friends to entertain at lunchtime in school one day, I was caught on camera by our Principal who was also a nun…a strict one, and made me sit outside her office for the day as punishment…..wearing the dress…..as a gang of national school children got a tour..and proceeded to point and laugh and then laugh some more. I had nowhere to hide as a lifesize pack of custard. I hope my trip to Spamalot on Saturday in the Grand Canal Theatre will be just as memorable……
Find me in the Matinee…
Tuesdays Child is full of…..
Monday`s burp of a day –Tuesday, flippin flip,it was like sliding down a hill knowing you are going fall straight into a river of sewage…it keep coming, working for a living, who`have it!…Still I am holding on to satisfying and “eeeek” inducing thoughts of getting to see this fine ensemble next week..(next week…I know..but I work week-ends as well…I have to think ahead!) Last got to see them in 07 in Hyde Park, got rattled in the pit….may be a little different for the venue I`m about to see them! Queens of the Stone Age will perform their self-titled debut album in full on this tour, they are starting at London’s Roundhouse on May 17. And then will make a certain Galway girl very happy on Thursday 19th in the Olympia Dublin.
Howard Marks Postponed
So arrived out to Dun Laoghaire to “cancelled” signs over Howard Marks posters, devastated! He had to postpone due to illness, wishing you a speedy recovery Howard, hope he reschedules soon, still we did find a nice watering hole just off the Pavillon called Prive, great views of Dublin Bay, and a great big bar! Journey not completely wasted….
Off to see a Wizard….
I was handed a book about 6 months ago entitled “Mr. Nice”, having heard of, but not fully understanding the sheer brilliance that is Mr. Howard Marks, I was enthralled to say the least. How does someone dream up forty-three aliases, eighty-nine phone lines, and twenty five companies trading throughout the world all for the love of sharing a good smoke? Genius or madness, I hope to find out even more tonight, he wil be captivating an audience in the Pavilion Theatre in Dun Laoghaire at half seven, are you coming?
